Class: ArtLab – Mark Making in Ink

Discover the expressive power of ink in this hands-on class exploring mark making through a variety of tools and techniques. Working with alcohol inks, India ink, and pens, students will experiment with line, texture, color, contrast and layering to discover how different inks interact on different papers. These papers can then be used as the foundation for collage, journaling and other mixed media projects. This class encourages play, experimentation and personal expression while deepening your understanding of how ink can be both precise and wildly unpredictable.

About ArtLab classes:
This class is part of our spring 2026 ArtLab series which involves two classes of paper design that will culminate in a third class of mixed media collage using all of the papers that you created. 

Graphite’s ArtLab classes are where experimentation and collaboration is encouraged, process is favored over product and methods & materials help you discover new sources of inspiration.  These classes are designed to be taken together sequentially – but you don’t have to. You can sign up for one, two or all three.

This is an explorational class for all levels – beginners to advanced – everyone is welcome to come and make art with us. All supplies are included, but feel free to bring your own supplies you’d like to experiment with.
