Event: Art Talk with Art Historian Lane Eagles
Renaissance Women Artists: Anguissola, Fontana and Gentileschi
Tuesday, May 12, 7:00PM
FREE, register below
Making art now is hard; making art as a woman during the early modern period was harder. Art historian Eagles explores the lives and art of three Renaissance women painters: Sofonisba Anguissola (c.1532 – 16 November 1625), Lavinia Fontana (24 August 1552 – 11 August 1614), and Artemisia Gentileschi (8 July 1593 – after January 1654).
Come learn with us about the barriers they faced as makers, how their work is in conversation with one another’s, and to celebrate their triumphs as trailblazers.
