Class: Abstracts with Dyes and Inks

Explore the signature style of artist, Mary Olsen, as she demonstrates the interplay between structure and fluid color in this hands-on workshop. You’ll combine water soluble materials, including liquid dyes, inks and acrylic paints to build bold, atmospheric compositions.

Learn to layer water-soluble media and use a straight edge to create free-flowing bleeds, splatters, and drips. Expect a fun, expressive, and messy environment where perfectionism is left at the door. Please note: this class is watery and loose. You might want to wear old clothes or bring an apron.

This is an explorational class for all levels – beginners to advanced – everyone is welcome to come and make art with us. All supplies are included, but feel free to bring your own supplies you’d like to experiment with. Before class, you might want to think about what letter(s), word(s) or phrase(s) you want to use in your artwork.
