Teacher Workshop: Character Building
Character Building
March 24, 2027
4:30-6:30pm
Great characters aren’t born in a single sketch, they are built over time. Join us on Wednesday, March 24 from 4:30-6:30 to discover a step-by-step classroom progression for teaching character design. This workshop breaks down the artistic roadmap from initial messy brainstorming concepts to polished characters. Learn how to guide your students through shape, language, facial expressions, and dynamic posing. You’ll walk away with a ready-to-use curriculum sequence that slows down the drawing process, boosts student stamina, and makes character building accessible to all skill levels.
No experience is required. Classroom teachers can earn two professional clock hours. This workshop is FREE for all Art Start NW partnership teachers and Para-professionals. Cost for non-partnership teachers, Para-professionals, and volunteers is $10. Everyone is welcome to attend, so bring a friend! All supplies are included. Light refreshments will be provided.
We are excited to work with our 2026-27 partnership schools: Chase Lake Community School, Cedar Valley Elementary, Cedar Way Elementary College Place Elementary, Lynndale Elementary, Martha Lake Elementary, Mountlake Terrace Elementary, Spruce Elementary, Alderwood Middle, College Place Middle, Madrona’s 6-8th, and Meadowdale Middle.
Registration coming soon.
