Class: Poetry and Collage – Fun with Words and Images
Get ready to play with words, color and your imagination as we turn text and images into expressive works of art. We’ll explore various exercises to get our creative juices flowing including blackout poetry (uncovering secret poems hidden in plain sight) and using poems to inspire visual imagery. Ways to incorporate words and phrases into your collages will be discussed as well as how composition, balance and color come together to help form a cohesive design. Come to class ready to play, experiment and have fun!
Note: In this class “poetry” is described as inspirational words and phrases. We will be exploring the intersection of words and images in art. We won’t be adhering to any set of literary rules or structure.
This is an explorational class for all levels – beginners to advanced – everyone is welcome to come and make art with us. All supplies are provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies you’d like to experiment with. Optional: Bring a favorite poem to inspire a collage.
