Event: Art Talk with Soo Hong
Art Talk with Soo Hong
(WIP) Working in Process
Thursday, November 6, 7:00PM
Join visual artist Soo Hong as she discusses how choice and chance can shape a work of art. Before a work is created, there is randomness and a series of choices. Some attempts fail, but those failures can become sources or even the final work itself. In this discussion, she will open up and share how the unseen parts of artmaking are revealed and why the process is always ongoing.
Immediately prior to the talk will be an artist lead hands-on workshop “Practicing Flow.” Registration & information about the class HERE. There is a 15 person limit to the workshop. Register early to guarantee your space!
Soo Hong Bio:
Soo is a visual artist working in painting, collage and film. She was born in Seoul, Korea, and now lives and works in Seattle. Her dreamlike landscapes evoke emotions such as excitement, loneliness, and longing, often inspired by the tension of unsettled environments. Through her work, she creates portals into new realities that feel both alien and intimate, inviting viewers to lose themselves.
She holds an MA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, UK, and a BA in Furniture and Product Design from Hongik University in Korea. Soo has received grants from D&AD (UK), GAP (Seattle), and the Bellevue Arts Program, and was a finalist for the Neddy Award (Seattle) in painting.
Free. Pre-registering your attendance helps us to plan for this event.
Please note: Registration for the Art Talk is free. Registration for the hands-on workshop is $30 and separate from the Art Talk registration. Go to the Classes and Workshops page to register for the workshop.
