CALL FOR ART – RAINBOW
The Gallery at Graphite Arts Center (Edmonds, WA) is seeking artwork for the upcoming pop-up exhibition ‘Rainbow.’
About the Exhibit
June is the month of rainbow color (and love), and Graphite Arts Center is somewhere over the rainbow to present the pop-up exhibit Rainbow, June 6-28, 2025. For this prismatic show we are seeking distinctive interpretations of the emblematic, kaleidoscopic arc. We invite artists of all levels to play with the idea of refraction and light.
Unframed, works on paper only (drawings, paintings, prints, collage, photographs). Works should be on theme, i.e. “rainbow.” Minimum image size 6 x 6 inches. Maximum image size 20 inches wide. Maximum sheet (paper size) 24 inches wide. It is recommended, though not required, to have 2 inches of paper around all edges of the image. This pop-up exhibition will be shown in our art library space with works displayed on art panels.
This is a juried exhibit with rules for submission and standards/guidelines for acceptance. Not all submissions will necessarily be accepted. Submissions will be juried based on quality, presentation, adherence to instructions of the call and how well the work fits with the overall vision of the exhibit.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Artwork
- Artwork must speak to the theme of the show “Rainbow.”
- Works on paper only
- Any medium on paper may be entered (drawing, painting, print, collage, photo, etc.)
Images for Entry
- JPEG files only
- All works must be well-photographed
- Images should be sent oriented properly for viewing
- JPEG files only
- Images must be labeled: LAST NAME_TITLE
Artist last name first on image file label is important i.e. Johnson_Bright Rainbow.jpg;
Entry Fee
- $15 fee for 1-2 works of art
- Entry fee is required and is non-refundable
- Fee must be paid at the time of application
Sales and Commission
- All artwork must be for sale
- All sales subject to 30% commission fee
- Artist checks for any works sold will be mailed by July 11, 2025
Delivery and Return of Work (Drop-off & Pick-up)
- All accepted artwork must be delivered, ready to hang, on Wednesday, June 4, 11-3PM.
- Please do not enter if you (or a representative) cannot deliver your work to Graphite on this date at this time.
Please bring your works to the gallery flat in your own cardboard folder/portfolio - If you are able, we request that you leave your cardboard portfolio with the art to protect it before hanging. Clearly label your portfolio on the outside with artist name
- Include a clean, loose piece of paper on top of your work with artist name, title, medium, dimensions and price
- All unsold works must be retrieved after the exhibition closes on Wednesday, July 2, 11-3PM.
Presentation
For this pop-up exhibit only, works are not to be framed
We will be exhibiting loose sheet works on paper with a minimum of 2 inches blank paper around the image
We will be displaying these works on paper on our carpeted art display panels using pins and clips
If you do not wish for your work to be clipped directly (clips touching paper upper right and left corners), please do not enter your art
If you do not wish for your work to hang unglazed for the duration of this exhibit, please do not enter your art
All works on paper will be handled with care and attention, and displayed in a safe environment.
Works should look clean, finished and as professional as possible when dropped off

Have your titles, dimensions, prices and JPG photos ready when you fill out the form as well as credit card available for paying entry fee online.
The artist, by submitting an entry form and images, consents for Graphite to use their name and images of art for promotional purposes, in print or online.
About The Gallery at Graphite
The Gallery at Graphite is a program of the non-profit Art Start Northwest and is located within Graphite Arts Center which opened in 2022 in downtown Edmonds, WA. Since opening, The Gallery at Graphite has hosted 18 art exhibitions in its 760 sq ft modern gallery space, and 4 pop-up exhibits featured in other spaces in our center. The focus of The Gallery is to curate exhibits which showcase a variety of talent, genres and artistic expressions. Our aim is to provide high quality art experiences to our community.
Graphite Arts Center includes: The Gallery at Graphite, 7 artist studios, an art book library, classroom space, and more. Graphite is open to the public Fridays 1-5PM and Saturdays 12-4PM. Graphite Arts Center is also open the third Thursday of the month for Art Walk Edmonds, 5-8PM.
The mission of Art Start Northwest at Graphite Arts Center is to be a creative art space where people feel welcomed and inspired. Our vision is to make art accessible.
